What's involved with this role: Interim Building Surveyor - Property Services Reference no: K&C 5257433 Pay Rate: £29.56 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 36 Monday – Friday, normal working hours Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2-3 months City: Kensington, London Basic DBS disclosure required for this role The successful candidate will undertake contract management, project management and contract surveying duties to support the delivery of a sector leading building services function and to contribute to the delivery of an effective professional technical service within the Property Services Department. Lead the provision of professional technical support including managing and monitoring consultant and contractor service providers across the range of building component repair and replacement, mechanical, electrical, fire, security and lift engineering disciplines and the effective management of associated service contracts and budgets. Key Responsibilities: Manage the procurement of modern planned maintenance and replacement programmes, and the efficient and effective delivery of contracted services. Assist in the development and implementation of building services procedures including quality assurance. Contribute to the provision of professional advice and support on the design, specification, tendering and supervision of building works including planned maintenance contracts. 4Administer a variety of contracts used for the delivery of minor and major works. This includes carrying out interim valuations, certifying contractor application for payment, assessing claims for costs and dealing with final accounts. Provide advice on the physical condition of service installations including the preparation of feasibility studies, life cycle cost analysis and suitability of alternative schemes. Ensure that all completed works are certifies including testing of installation services and equipment, the provision of completed maintenance information, including manuals for operating and maintenance requirements. Lead on the identification, development and implementation of planned preventative maintenance programmes including identifying and reporting on recurring problems for possible inclusion in the programme. Undertake planned estate and property inspections to ensure that agreed standards are maintained, and statutory and legislative requirements are met. Undertake inspections to property assets assess condition and collect information for the preparation of future programme of planned investment works. Lead on the provision of a professional service of design and specification of maintenance, repairs and replacement programmes and support the procurement and implementation process accordingly. Provide professional technical support across the directorate to ensure compliance on all aspects of health and safety including gas maintenance, asbestos management, fire risk assessment and water safety including identifying implications for existing contracts and the requirements for new maintenance regimes. Ensure that all information systems are appropriately maintained so that colleagues have access to relevant and up to date information. Qualifications: Qualification in building surveying. Skills & Experience: Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation. Proficient working knowledge of building construction, maintenance and repair techniques. In-depth knowledge of building regulations, health and safety standards, and other statutory requirements. Knowledge of project management principles, including budgeting, scheduling and risk management. Ability to develop detailed specifications, drawings and bills of quantities. Practical experience in conducting building surveys, inspections and condition assessments. Experience in managing small-scale projects, including planning execution and monitoring. Knowledge of procurement in public sector organisations. Experience in effectively communicating with building users, contractors and other stakeholders. Proficiency in building surveying techniques, software applications and project management tools. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
