The Governors of this highly successful, partially selective, mixed school invite applications for the post of Teacher of English. We seek a highly motivated and energetic candidate to join our very successful and very well resourced English department. English is a popular subject across all Key Stages. We are passionate about encouraging reading; students study a range of texts spanning various genres and time periods at both KS3 and KS4. English is a popular subject at A level and we offer two A level courses:
English Literature and English Language & Literature. You will need to be able to teach students up to and including A level.
In the 2024 A level examinations:
* 97% of A Level English Literature results were graded A*-B with 78% graded A*-A.
* 88% of A Level English Language and Literature results were graded A*-C with 50% graded A*-A.
In the 2024 GCSE examinations:
* Over 88% of GCSE English Language results were graded at 5 or above, with 62% achieving a grade 7, 8 or 9.
* Over 92% of GCSE English Literature results were graded at 5 or above, with 71% achieving a grade 7, 8 or 9.
