We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practice Assistant (GPA) to join our team.
As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will help to improve the medical care of patients by carrying out simple clinical observations and investigations, such as dipstick, blood pressures, phlebotomy, annual review tests, and NHS health checks. You will also be supporting our administrative team through inputting and analysing clinical data and liaising with patients as directed by the management team.
The GPA is a new role, so we are looking for someone who can adapt as the role evolves.
Previous experience in a health care setting is desirable, although any required training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
The following are the core responsibilities of the General Practice Assistant. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. The work will be varied and dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.
Key requirements of the role
Clinical services
1. Carry out simple clinical observations and investigations work, such as dipstick, blood pressures, phlebotomy, Annual Review Tests, NHS Health Checks, ECG, INR.
2. Support the practice with immunisations including the covid and flu vaccination programmes.
3. Act as chaperone when required.
4. Conduct home visits as required.
5. Other clinical responsibilities, as required.
6. Support smooth running of clinical appointments by restocking clinical supplies and ensuring rooms are prepared for each session.
Administration
1. Support achievement of QOF and Impact and Investment Fund indicators.
2. Data quality administration for example clinical coding, clinical summarising, searches, audits, contacting patients.
3. Support administration for the practice vaccination programmes.
The GPA must ensure that they work within and recognise their scope of practice, escalating any concerns to a senior clinician as appropriate.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience working with the public.
* Experience of working in a primary care or NHS setting.
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE grade A-C equivalent in Maths and English.
* Desire to learn and develop skills within the role.
* NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
* Evidence of Medical Terminology training.
