GSL Education are seeking an experienced and skilled Autism Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Lincoln. As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in helping students overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. You will collaborate with teachers, parents, and specialists to help create an inclusive classroom setting, where every student can thrive. You’ll be supporting students to reach their personal, social, and academic goals through tailored interventions and promoting independence. Responsibilities of an Autism Teaching Assistant: Provide tailored one-to-one or small group support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Assist in implementing and monitoring Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Work with teachers to adapt lessons and learning materials to meet individual student needs. Support students in developing communication, social interaction, and behavioural skills. Promote independence and confidence through structured routines and positive reinforcement. Assist in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment. Liaise with parents, caregivers, and professionals to ensure cohesive support for students. Autism TA Requirements: Experience working with children as a Teaching Assistant, particularly those with Autism or similar needs. Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and strategies to support affected students effectively. A qualification in education, Teaching Assistant, childcare, or SEN, such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3, or equivalent. Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Patience, empathy, and a commitment to helping children reach their potential. Experience in behaviour management and promoting positive behaviours.
