The Anaesthetic department and the Intensive care Unit at Kent & Canterbury Hospital are active in audit and research, there will be plenty of opportunity to participate in Quality improvement projects and Research. Weekly formal teaching sessions and journal club also provide learning opportunities.
Our Hospital undertakes all vascular surgery for East Kent, all urological surgery (including major cancer and robotic surgery) as well as orthopaedics. In addition, a range of day surgical specialties are represented, including: dental and maxillofacial surgery, ENT, gynaecology, general surgery (including paediatrics), ophthalmology, dermatology and podiatry. Emergency theatre cover is provided daily.
We are looking for an enthusiastic doctor whom is content to perform and be responsible for administrative tasks such as documentation and ordering investigations, but whom is also keen to learn to manage critically ill patients. There should be plenty of opportunities to gain experience in practical procedures.
A consultant or middle grade will be immediately available for support all the time you are working. There will also be to opportunities to gain experience in anaesthetics and pain management.
This job is for 40 hours a week, 8hr sessions between Mon-Fri 8am-8:30pm. There is no expectation for you to work weekends or nights.
It would be an advantage to be familiar with the Trust’s IT systems but not essential.
We also hope that the candidate will be happy to present cases at our morbidity and mortality meetings.
