Role Overview:
They are looking for an experienced Associate Director – Building Surveyor to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Chartered Building Surveyor with strong project management skills and a passion for delivering high-quality projects. In this role, you will be leading a range of construction projects, including technical due diligence surveys, estate work with GPE, defects analysis, specification writing, project tendering and running, as well as managing social housing projects, small educational schemes, and planned maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Project Leadership: Independently manage and lead construction projects and teams of varying sizes and complexity. Procure design and deliver new build and refurbishment projects, including mixed-use, industrial, residential, and commercial schemes.
* Delivery to Quality Standards: Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high-quality standard.
* Client Advisory: Provide expert advice to clients on programme, cost, and procurement implications for both public and private sector projects.
* Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with clients. Proactively manage and enhance existing client relationships while identifying opportunities for new business.
* Business Development: Actively seek new business opportunities and promote the consultancy through networking and business development events.
* Office and Team Management: Assist in managing the office and future employees, fostering a collaborative work environment.
* Financial Management: Provide accurate financial and project management reports to the management team. Manage project budgets and track financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
* Professional Development: Maintain your MRICS qualification and ensure compliance with CPD requirements.
* Team Collaboration: Work closely with multi-functional teams, supporting the delivery of a range of projects, and ensuring the team embraces the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) and QA standards.
* Project Scope & Risk Management: Control project scope and manage change control processes. Oversee project risks and allocate roles and responsibilities effectively.
* Creative Problem Solving: Think creatively to provide innovative solutions for complex challenges.
* Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in team profitability by managing time, resources, and invoicing processes. Monitor performance against targets and ensure efficient resource management.
* Recruitment & Staff Development: Assist with the recruitment of new staff, contribute to the selection process, and supervise the development of junior staff members.
Experience & Skills Required:
* Chartered status (MRICS) with a solid background in building surveying and project management.
* Extensive experience managing and delivering complex projects in various sectors, including retail, industrial, commercial, social housing, and education.
* Strong understanding of technical due diligence, defects analysis, specification writing, and project tendering.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams and foster positive relationships with clients.
* Proven ability to manage project budgets, financial performance, and risk.
* In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies such as PRINCE2 or equivalent.
* A proactive approach to business development and client relationship management.
