Job Description:
The firm is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Personal Tax Senior or Assistant Manager to join our professional team.
The role will be compliance-focused, ensuring that all tax filings meet statutory requirements while providing proactive tax advice where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Compliance & Reporting: Prepare and review Self-Assessment Tax Returns for individuals, landlords, sole traders, company directors, and high-net-worth clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC regulations.
2. Client Management: Act as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients, providing clear and professional tax advice while maintaining excellent client relationships.
3. Technical Expertise: Stay up to date with UK tax legislation, ensuring that all tax filings comply with the latest HMRC guidance.
4. HMRC Liaison: Handle HMRC enquiries, disclosures, and investigations on behalf of clients, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.
5. Tax Planning Support: Identify areas for tax efficiencies and risk mitigation, advising clients on best practices within the bounds of UK tax law.
6. Process Improvement: Assist in developing and streamlining tax compliance processes within the firm to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. ATT qualified, CTA-qualified, or qualified by experience.
2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a personal tax compliance role within an accountancy practice.
3. Strong technical knowledge of UK tax legislation, including income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and property tax.
4. Experience dealing with HMRC correspondence, compliance checks, and tax return submissions.
5. Excellent analytical skills with a meticulous approach to detail and compliance.
6. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly to clients.
