Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Team Leader, the post holder will be part of a Grounds Maintenance team responsible for maintaining consistent quality of service for the contracts delivered by Azure Charitable Foundation.
The primary tasks relating to this role are performing grounds maintenance activities during the summer and winter months. The standard working hours are 37.25 hours per week; however, the shift patterns will change depending on the season, with longer days in the summer and shorter in the winter.
A DBS check will be required for the role.
Responsibilities
* Undertake general grounds maintenance duties to ensure a high standard of work is maintained at all times in accordance with contractual obligations.
* Maintenance duties are to include both mechanical and manual operations and will cover the broad spectrum of grounds maintenance both in the summer and winter months. Duties will include but are not limited to soil cultivation, digging, forking, watering, edging, grass cutting, planting trees/shrubs, bed preparation, seasonal bedding, pruning, hedge trimming.
* The safe use of ride-on mowers and grounds maintenance machinery, including hand tools and light machinery, and use of cylinder and rotary mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters, and leaf blowers/collectors.
* To carry out gritting and snow clearing duties of roads and pavements on site to meet the set contractual standards.
* To participate in training programs.
* To work to specific Maintenance Programs and to complete appropriate paperwork.

The successful applicant(s) should be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills, and experience necessary to meet the requirements of the role:
* Friendly, approachable, and professional at all times while representing Azure Charitable Foundation.
* Ability to work as part of a small team and to perform designated tasks safely, accurately, and efficiently.
* Experience of using a range of grounds maintenance tools, equipment, and vehicles and the ability to adhere to all current and future Health and Safety requirements that are required to safely carry out the role and operate equipment.
* Ability to work independently using your own initiative and deal with matters as they arise.
* Ability to demonstrate pride in your work and in keeping community facilities to a high standard.
* Good level of physical fitness.
* Full UK driver's licence.
* A generally ‘practical’ nature with the ability to turn your hand to a number of maintenance-related tasks.
* A flexible ‘can do’ attitude and a willingness to tackle any task.
* Basic H&S knowledge.
