Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in:
To provide a range of technical and skilled highways and road support.
Purpose of the role and your responsibilities:
1. The installing, maintaining, removing of static temporary traffic management on motorways and high-speed carriageways.
2. The establishing and removal of mobile lane closure traffic management on motorways and other high-speed carriageways with and without hard shoulders.
3. The installing, maintaining, removing of temporary traffic management on rural and urban roads including moving works and short duration works, static works and dual carriageway works including convoy works, and multi-phase traffic signals.
4. A range of arboriculture work including maintenance of grass, hedges, trees and wild grasslands.
5. General maintenance including drainage, litter picking, sweeping, vegetation clearance, barrier inspections & siding out activities.
6. Winter service activities including gritting, snow clearance, flood avoidance maintenance and any other supporting activity related to winter service.
7. Providing accident maintenance support in relation to a range of causes including road traffic collisions, the clearance of spillages/debris and police/service led activities.
8. Depot based activities including cleaning, rearranging and maintaining.
9. Vehicle, plant and labour transportation activities.
10. Completion of various electronic and paper processes to comply with the Company's procedure in relation to Health and Safety and Fleet.
11. To work safely and be responsible for personal safety, the safety of the whole gang, and that of others who come into contact with the works being carried out.
12. To carry out all required checks of plant, equipment and vehicles including completion of associated reports.
13. To undertake works as instructed without direct supervision ensuring they are completed to specification and programme.
14. To accurately complete daily record sheets and submit them at the end of each day.
15. To participate in emergency works and winter maintenance rosters and to respond to out of office hours emergencies in accordance with roster and within required timescales if required.
16. To participate and complete all necessary training.
17. Shift working as required.
18. Any reasonable required task associated with the safe and efficient running of the RIS HE SW contract.
Formal qualifications required:
Hold a full and current driving licence.
Skills required:
Basic IT skills, Health and Safety awareness.
Personal qualities:
Reliable, flexible, good communication skills.
