Description
Whelen is looking for a highly motivated and self-driven National Utility Fleet Sales Manager to oversee and develop relationships with Whelen's current and potential utility customers. Key responsibilities include identifying, acquiring, and maintaining long-term relationships by understanding customers' needs and providing the right solutions based on Whelen’s product offerings. The National Utility Fleet Sales Manager will focus on strategic growth opportunities within major Utility fleets and their commercial fleet builders through industry stakeholders identified by the candidate. The goal of this position is to make substantial contributions toward sustaining and developing business opportunities for Whelen and driving our long-term success.
Duties and Responsibilities
Job Duties:
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with major utility fleets, industry stakeholders, OEMs, and commercial fleet upfitters. Educate on the newest safety technologies.
* Acquire a thorough understanding of essential customer needs and requirements.
* Grow relationships with existing customers by continuously providing solutions that meet their objectives.
* Recommend service and product enhancements to optimize sales and increase overall customer satisfaction.
* Play an integral part in developing new sales opportunities for Whelen.
* Make regularly scheduled high-level sales calls to customers with major Utility fleet accounts across North America.
* Develop program materials & market strategies in targeting the industry.
* Work closely with the Amber National Sales Manager, Regional Sales Managers, Territory Sales Managers, and Whelen AMSRs to achieve sales goals within the marketplace. Develop sales/comp programs and create sales assets to target the specific Utility marketplace.
* Demonstrate and educate the market on Whelen products and services.
* Represent Whelen professionally and knowledgeably.
* Develop proficiency with the company’s current computer/software systems.
* Willingness and ability to learn and understand future software programs.
* Develop relationships with Whelen’s internal support staff.
* Attend, participate, and present at industry-focused regional and national trade shows.
* Manage specific shows along with show assembly and disassembly of trade show booths.
* Effective communication & sales planning with Whelen field sales personnel.
* Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time.

* 40 hours per week or more depending on workload. Travel and events may include evenings and weekends.
