Job summary
The purpose of this role is to coordinate and develop the Complementary Therapy (CT) service to provide the best possible care for patients and carers, both at our hospice bases and in their own home across North West and South West Herts and Bucks. Regular travel will be required for this role, so a car and driving licence will be essential.

Main duties of the job
Coordinate and develop the Complementary Therapy service.
Collaborate with other Complementary Therapy Coordinators.
To work alongside the Wellbeing Therapies Manager to review and evaluate the delivery of complementary therapies to Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care patients.Help to develop the profile of complementary therapy within palliative care.Recruit, train and upskill CT volunteers.

Job responsibilities
Provide advice and guidance regarding complementary therapies to the clinical teams.Promote and develop understanding of complementary therapies and referral criteria internally and externally.
Attend relevant clinical team meetings (including nursing).
Development and support of CT volunteers, including provision of regular group supervision.
Be aware of any emotional needs that may be affecting the wellbeing of a member of the Complementary Therapy team.
Acting as a Rennie Grove Peace ambassador within the community.
Manage complementary therapy referrals and caseloads.Carry out assessments and allocate referrals to complementary therapy volunteers (community and outpatients).
Maintain a caseload of patients, delivering complementary therapies to Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care patients and carers both in Outpatients, IPU and the community.
Requirement to travel across the Rennie Grove Peace catchment area to carry out patient home visits.
Manage complementary therapy resources and equipment.
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
1. Recognised complementary therapy diploma or qualification (Level 3).
2. In depth working knowledge of at least one or two complementary therapies.
3. Member of relevant professional governing body in line with own practice.
4. Evidence of regular and current delivery of complementary therapy practice over the last 3 years.
5. Experience of working with patients with a range of complex needs.
6. A good broad-based knowledge of all complementary therapies and their applications.
7. An understanding of cancer and its treatments.
8. Flexible and adaptable to a variety of tasks.
9. Ability to work autonomously and as an effective member of a team.
10. Ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure.
11. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
12. Drive and enthusiasm.
13. A good understanding of technology with a working knowledge of
14. Microsoft Office packages Word, Excel, SharePoint and Outlook.
15. Able to build good working relationships.
16. Good communication and listening skills; able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
