We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join the Milestone Projects team and learn alongside our experienced engineers about how to be responsible for the daily control, management, and coordination of construction activities on site to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the required safety, environmental and quality standards. With the support of your work-based mentor, your responsibilities will increase as your skills and technical knowledge develop.
The contracts you will be working on will include the National Highways SDF Framework delivering all works specifically to do with drainage, Westmoreland Framework delivering general Civil Engineering Projects and potential future works with an established developer in the centre of Manchester.
Entry Requirements
* You must have the permanent Right to Work in the UK.
* BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering. Minimum 2:2.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with the management of all engineering activities including engineering control, setting out and providing direction to workforce and leading Quality control systems to ensure compliance with project design and specifications.
* Ensuring the highest possible Health, Safety & Environmental standards are employed across all projects, adhering to Milestone health and safety policy/environmental policy and actively supporting the Injury Free Environment (IFE) culture that is an integral part of the Milestone working environment.
* Meet client expectations and ensure excellent communication skills with all project stakeholders.
* Assist with Survey & Engineering Control - Responsible for checking all sub-contractor and direct labour works.
* Assist reviewing design and proposing solutions by raising RFI's and communicating to relevant parties i.e., Designers/Sub Contractors.
* Assist with Materials ordering and approvals.
* Work with the Site Team in monitoring HSEQ aspects of the project including Project Health and Safety File.
* Assist managing the permit process including CAT scanning and issuing Permits.
* Keep accurate records including site diary, records of works activities, resource allocations and as-built information using AutoCAD.
* Input into collaborative planning for site work.
* Fully engage with the commercial team members to ensure the project commercial procedures are followed.
* Compliance with Milestone and PCC, H&S, Quality and Environmental, reporting and performance requirements.
* Represent Milestone and the Client in a professional manner at all times. Be customer-focused and proactive in managing customer interface to prevent/eliminate complaints.
* Assist with the development of the Test and Inspection Plan.
* Maintain Quality and Inspection records for all elements of the works and ensure items are signed off by the relevant party within the required timeframe.
* Communicate effectively with the Milestone Site Management Team to ensure the works are planned in line with the agreed programme.
* Be willing to work nights and/or away from home for short periods where required.
* Work collaboratively with customers to understand and develop project objectives.
Skills and Experience:
* Knowledge of National Highways standards such as the DMRB and MCDHW (preferred).
* Knowledge of Health and Safety and Construction Design Management (CDM) in design and construction.
* Computer literate particularly with packages such as Microsoft Excel and Word, and AutoCAD (desirable).
* Driving License compulsory.
