An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated experienced paediatric nurse to join the Gastroenterology Nursing team at Sheffield Children's Hospital. This is a full time permanent post and the successful candidate will be expected to:
* Manage telephone and email support service daily
* Attend and co-ordinate Gastroenterology ward rounds and meetings
* Support nurse led clinics
* Nurse led ward round and review
* Pre and post op care and education
* Teaching patients, families and staff - medication
* Maintaining policies and protocols
* Liaise with other MDT (Community and hospitals)
* Carry out audit to nationally agreed standards
* Research
Do you have/are you?
* Experienced Staff Nurse
* Excellent communication skills
* Outstanding time management skills and the ability to prioritise
* Able to work autonomously
* Work as part of a team
* Previous experience working with patients and families who have chronic conditions
* Mentoring qualification
* Enthusiasm to teach and support others
* An interest in gastroenterology
* Flexibility to meet the needs of the service
Main duties of the job
* To act as a Named Nurse and plan, implement and evaluate care for children with confirmed gastroenterological and hepatology conditions
* To develop and co-ordinate the Gastroenterology nursing Service in a variety of settings ensuring the quality of care provision for Children of all ages.
* To provide specialist education, training and information to children, families and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
* Provide a seamless transition of care for patients with gastroenterology and liver conditions to adult services.

* RN Child (RSCN) or equivalent
* 998 or equivalent teaching certificate

* Diploma level post basic nursing qualification in relevant field

* Working towards completion of nonmedical prescribing
