Purpose of the role
Working within the Business UK sales team, the main responsibilities are to generate sales enquiries within the UK and Ireland promoting the full range of our clients' machines and services. These enquiries would cover not only single machine sales but also large development projects.
This Sales Representative role cuts across all different aspects and functions of our clients' business. Reporting and working closely with the sales director, the role requires management of numerous tasks that, depending on the enquiry, can require coordination with several business departments. For example, the technical sales support team (to discuss requirements and determine concepts/layouts), project team, Install and service, plus various departments in Germany (for technical support, production, and delivery slots, etc.).
There will be a significant amount of multi-tasking, with the Sales Representative role typically managing a portfolio of numerous projects and enquiries at one time. Strong time-management, prioritization, and organizational skills are required along with a significant level of initiative, independence, and self-management. There will be a significant amount of travel within the UK as well as Ireland, with the role frequently customer-facing, plus on occasions within Europe and in particular Germany to our head offices and manufacturing facilities.
Key Duties
* To generate sales enquiries within the UK and Ireland.
* To work closely and support the sales director on a day-to-day basis. These duties include preparing costing sheets (Excel), preparing offer letters (Word), preparing presentation material (PowerPoint), assisting in the overview of project or machine benefits/advantages, strategies, negotiation, and commercial aspects. Continual project and enquiry updates and preparation of overall prospect lists and sales turnover forecasts, etc.
* To arrange and conduct regular customer visits and meetings to discuss potential opportunities and generate sales enquiries.
* Within customer discussions during the enquiry phase, obtain and collate various information such as required production and site information to help develop the enquiry further through the business and assist various technical support teams.
* Facilitate and coordinate regular visits with customers to other facilities (within the UK and Europe) to showcase and demonstrate the proposed machines in operation.
Required Knowledge/Experience
* A level of communication skills, including communications using the spoken word, the written word, and mathematics, commensurate with a sales professional.
* General sales background with a bias towards mechanical engineering (further education level qualified).
* Experience of industrial mechanical processing and logistic systems within production facilities desirable but not essential.
* Experience in surveying and using AutoCAD design software desirable but not essential.
* Competent user/experience using Microsoft Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, 8:30 - 17:00
Salary: £45,680 + car allowance
