We are a borough renowned for its rich natural beauty, cultural significance and rare and precious habitats including the North Wessex Downs National Landscape and River Test. We are hoping that you will join us to help deliver what our communities need whilst protecting the environment.
Due to maternity leave and following internal promotions, opportunities are available within both our Northern and Southern Area Teams.
You will work within a well-resourced Planning and Building Service dealing with a variety of planning applications and appeals and providing a wide range of advice to developers, businesses, the public and other stakeholders.
We are looking for people with good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interpret legislation and policy, understand complex issues and negotiate solutions working proactively with colleagues across the Council and our external customers.
The Planning Assistant position offers an excellent opportunity to start a career in planning so we are looking for someone with a keen interest in this area. You will be educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a subject related to Town Planning with a commitment to continuing your own development.
For the Planning Officer role you will also need to have previous experience of working in development management.
The Senior Planning Officer role will provide an opportunity to work creatively on a wide variety of development schemes including more complex applications. You will have extensive experience of working in development management and have a positive attitude to development.
As part of our team, you’ll then receive comprehensive training and assistance & encouragement to become a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
