Job summary
We are looking for a Junior Clinical Fellow on a 12 month fixed term contract to support the trauma and orthopaedic service and develop their surgical and diagnostic skills with a view to furthering a career in trauma and orthopaedics. They will support the FY1 and FY2 tier and also participate in a Trauma and Orthopaedic on call rota during core hours only; out of hours on call is not a requirement of this role. The post holder will also be expected to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and to participate in audit and clinical governance activities.
Main duties of the job
* In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to provide a service in Trauma and Orthopaedic with responsibility for core Trauma and Orthopaedic services.
* In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
* In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
* To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.
* In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to play a full part in the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.
* In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to take responsibility for and devote time to teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required for junior medical staff.
* In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to take responsibility for the best use of departmental staffing and other resources to ensure the maximum efficiency of the department.
* To observe the Trust's agreed policies and procedures, in particular in relation to managing staff, and to follow the Trust's Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Full registration with the GMC at time of application
* MBBS (or equivalent)
* Satisfactory completion of Foundation programme (or equivalent evidence of competence) at the time of application
* Current ALS certification
