Unit / Team
The CTO function is part of Information Technology Services and provides infrastructure, security, technical services, service management and support services for the Atradius group and its customers. Within the CTO, the Oracle Database Team is responsible for the delivery and management of our Oracle database estate that supports our key applications and systems.
Job description
The Senior Oracle Database Administrator role is responsible for providing EBusiness Suite DBA Support activities along with core Database Administration services for the business and its customers including the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring, and maintenance of Oracle Databases. The role must ensure all our databases are fully covered for operational support meeting Incident and Change SLAs, logging and monitoring, backup and recovery, operational reporting, 24x7 on-call support, operational documentation and security compliance. We work within a formal ITIL framework, and the Senior Oracle DBA is expected to support this way of working.
Responsibilities
1. In-depth experience and knowledge of Oracle EBusiness 12.2 architecture, installation, configuration, cloning and performance tuning to support our key Finance system.
2. Experience with installing, configuring, and supporting ODI would be considered a plus.
3. Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of Oracle database concepts, object and data modelling techniques and design principles and a detailed knowledge of database architectures, software, and facilities.
4. Broad knowledge of the Oracle database product stack.
5. Provide professional consultancy advice on complex requests. Attend meetings to present proposals and solutions to stakeholders and contribute to planning activities, the production/maintenance of the relevant technical roadmaps and technical documentation.
6. Set standards for database and application administration, ensuring that procedures are documented, maintained, and followed for all routine database administration activities.
7. Produce and maintain plans for backup and recovery of database, high availability and disaster recovery advising stakeholders on best practice and ensuring plans meet the business need.
8. Manage database and application configurations including installing, patching, upgrading software servers and application tools, ensuring that all standard procedures are observed, applying fixes, and maintaining documentation.
9. Participate in the team on-call rota providing 24/7 support to customers.
Key Job requirements
1. Significant experience in Oracle EBusiness and RDBMS and associated technologies.
2. Knowledge and experience of using Data Guard configuration, RAC (Real Application Clusters), Oracle Enterprise Manager, Golden Gate and RMAN.
3. Good Unix Shell programming, SQL and PL/SQL skills; Ansible automation experience would be considered a plus.
4. Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
5. Self-starter with great problem-solving skills, continuously looking for ways to improve.
6. Experience of working in a global commercial enterprise level organisation.
7. Experience of working in a 24x7 operational environment.
8. Degree level education or relevant work experience.
9. ITIL certification or relevant experience.
10. Good spoken and written English.
