The UK operations are entirely based in the West Midlands.
About the Role
Working closely with the Business Management System (BMS) Manager, this role is responsible for developing and maintaining an effective Quality Management System (QMS). The QMS must meet the requirements of EN9100, customer-specific standards, and other applicable benchmarks. This role supports key process owners across the business, ensuring processes are well-documented, maintained, and consistently followed. The QMS Engineer will enable the company to achieve operational excellence by fostering a robust and competitive QMS.
Responsibilities
1. QMS Development and Maintenance: Implement an optimized QMS that is easy to understand and integrate. Define and oversee improvements while ensuring compliance with EN9100 and other applicable standards.
2. Process Monitoring: Ensure adherence to documented processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
3. Audit Coordination: Conduct and coordinate internal audits and facilitate external accreditation audits to maintain EN9100 certification.
4. Improvement Initiatives: Recommend and implement methodological tools tailored to operational needs, such as 8D, FMEA, Lean, 6S, and other relevant methodologies.
5. Training and Deployment: Design and coordinate training programs to support QMS deployment and ensure widespread understanding and adoption across the company.
6. KPI Analysis: Monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of the QMS using KPIs and propose data-driven improvements.
7. Communication and Reporting: Support management reviews, report on process performance, and define communications actions associated with the QMS.
8. Best Practices Implementation: Introduce and maintain best practices in risk analysis, performance improvement, decision support, problem-solving, and related methodologies.
Qualifications
Essential:
1. EN/AS9100 Lead Auditor Certification
Desirable:
1. HNC/HND/Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
Required Skills
1. At least 5 years of experience implementing and improving AS/EN9100 quality systems in the aerospace or defense industry
2. Experience working with regulatory bodies (e.g., Bureau Veritas)
3. Proficiency in internal and external auditing
Preferred Skills:
1. Familiarity with working to DEFSTANS standards
