Job Description
British Dressage (BD) is the National Governing Body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of dressage, with over 18,500 members and 16,700 horses currently registered. We offer competition, training and participation activity for riders at all levels, from grass roots to elite level.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team as Regional & Volunteer Manager, based at our head office in Meriden, West Midlands or remotely in one of our UK regions.
The Regional and Volunteer Manager will be responsible for the management and delivery of all regional activity for British Dressage. This will include the line management of a team of Development Officers, along with overseeing the Regional Committees and the wider volunteer network that support the development of the sport.

In addition, they will oversee a regional event strategy that includes an effective regional team competition offering.
The volunteer network includes around 100 regional volunteers, plus those involved in the Technical Committee structure. The post-holder will manage this network, providing leadership, and facilitating communication between volunteers and employees across the organisation, acting as the link between head office and the regional team, to ensure effective implementation of the organisation’s strategy and operational plans.
We are looking for a highly organised professional, who has excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail. They will have a structured approach to work, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines. They should be a highly motivated and proactive self-starter, equally adept at working independently and being an effective team player. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to build strong professional relationships, both internally and externally.
The successful candidate will have at least five years’ experience in a similar development role in sport, with a proven track record of managing staff and supporting a network of volunteers. An active interest in equestrian sport and knowledge of dressage would be advantageous but is not essential for this position.
