ICT Telecoms Field Engineer Apprentice
Location: Field based - West Midlands

Our Field teams are critical in the delivery of our contracts, whether that is delivering or supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works. Help build and keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.
What you’ll do:
1. Experience a variety of different rotations aimed at progressing your skills, knowledge, and personal development.
2. Gain valuable insight into the inner workings of various departments across Network Services.
3. Work in a multitude of environments such as offices, outdoors, BT exchanges, data centres, and emergency service locations.
4. Learn how to install, maintain, and test on-site equipment in line with various contract requirements.
5. Work on Emergency Service vehicles installing, maintaining, testing, and commissioning telecommunications equipment.
6. Learn about Emergency Services Radio Comms, VHF/RF/Microwave systems, Optical Fibre, IP routers, and networks.
7. Understand the project requirements of Telent's customers and contracts.
8. Complete risk assessments and implement health and safety standards and regulations.
Who you are & what to prepare for:
This role involves working at heights, outdoors, and travelling across different regions in the UK. On some occasions, you will be working in Emergency Services locations and/or around various vehicles. We don’t require individuals with experience as we will provide full training.
We are looking for candidates with the right attitude, commitment, and desire to learn. You will get a vehicle, mobile phone, laptop, and personal protective equipment as part of the role.
Although supported throughout the programme by us at Telent, you will need to take ownership of your tasks and personal development. Communication is vital; you will need to be an effective communicator both in writing and verbally. You should have a logical approach, enjoy problem-solving, and be able to undertake physically demanding work.
The Requirements:
1. Minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade 4 or higher (or equivalent qualification), including Maths, English, and a Science or IT based subject.
2. Must be eligible to work in the UK.
3. Hold a Full UK Driving licence.
4. Must be over the age of 18 by September 2025.
5. Able to pass full Security Clearance vetting for access to secure information.
6. Able to adhere to our Drugs & Alcohol policy and pass a pre-employment assessment.
Programme Specifics:
This apprenticeship is typically 24 months in duration. The starting salary of £17,500 will increase throughout the programme. The qualification you gain will be a Level 3 Information Communications Technician.
Our chosen training provider Bragd will support you in obtaining your qualification. You will be predominantly field-based with office and college visits as required throughout the programme. On completion of your apprenticeship, we hope to offer you a full-time position with Telent.
