Our client, who was initially established over 40 years ago, working within the Civil engineering and Utility Contracting space, is currently looking for a SHEQ Advisor to join the team based in Portsmouth with travel to sites across the south/southeast.
(You might have relevant experience within Civil engineering or Electrical infrastructure or power distribution or other Utilities)
Job Description
1. Assisting the SHEQ Manager in reporting to Director level on all aspects of SHEQ.
2. Keep up to date with the latest SHEQ requirements including legislation and industry best practices.
3. Be the leading representative supporting the Directors in respect of all aspects of SHEQ, setting the highest standards by personal example.
4. Ensure site management is aware of and provided with up-to-date SHEQ information and documentation.
5. Advise and propose policy and procedure amendments as required to meet the required industry standards, legislation, and best practices.
6. Attend Management Reviews covering all aspects of SHEQ for attendance of Directors and Senior Managers.
7. Represent the Company to clients and other external parties including the relevant enforcement agencies.
8. Facilitate external audits for certification bodies to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001, Achilles UDVB, and Lloyds register NERS certification.
9. Monitor and update the Achilles UDVB vendor database.
10. Monitor company objectives and targets in respect of SHEQ and report to the SHEQ Manager.
11. Assist with SHEQ requirements at prequalification and bid stages.
12. Assist in the preparation of risk assessments and method statements for estimating stages and in accordance with specific project requirements.
13. Conduct SHEQ audits and inspections of the company's activities at sites and premises.
14. Monitor and manage SHEQ Inspection reports.
15. Investigate accidents and incidents and prepare reports with recommendations.
16. Monitor company-owned equipment calibration records.
17. Oversee the training requirements for employees including arranging external courses as required.
18. Prepare and conduct various SHEQ awareness training briefings including company inductions, management briefings, and monthly employee SHEQ briefings.
Job Requirements
1. Eligible to work in the UK.
2. Clean current driving license.
3. At least 3 years' experience in a SHEQ role preferably within the civil engineering sector.
4. Good overall knowledge from experience in civil engineering and utilities sectors (preference toward electric utility experience).
5. Good knowledge of legislation in respect of Health, Safety, and Environment.
6. Conversant with Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
7. Good presentation preparation and delivery skills.
8. Good writing skills for reports, bulletins, and SHEQ media for internal and external communication.
9. Highly self-motivated, a confident communicator at any level, and sets a high standard through example in regard to compliance with company safety standards.
Qualifications Required
1. NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate.
2. Tech IOSH / Cert IOSH.
3. Desirable: IEMA / Auditor qualification / Quality-related qualification.
