The Chemist role involves visiting customer sites to identify, list, and prepare all waste streams for safe onward transport in accordance with customer requirements. This includes handling small containers of chemicals, repacking them into larger containers, and securing them on pallets to prevent damage during transit.

* Undertake work at various facilities, including customer premises, which may involve travel and overnight stays.
* Provide technical assistance to customers, including waste packing, collection services, and general support.
* Maintain accurate documentation and inspect waste materials to ensure conformity and container integrity prior to transport.
* Collect and record detailed information to enable the compliant and efficient same-day removal of waste to appropriate facilities, where feasible.
* Accurately input data into company systems to facilitate the acceptance and processing of waste upon arrival at the site.
* Develop load plans to assist drivers in segregating incompatible chemicals during transport, ensuring safety and compliance.
* Perform liquid pumping services, transferring waste from damaged or unsuitable containers into appropriate containment to enable safe and satisfactory removal from the customer's site.
* Respond to sales enquiries promptly, providing timely cost estimates for work following site visits.
* Collaborate with sales and customer service teams, offering guidance on required timeframes and volumes of packing materials necessary for Hazpack jobs, supporting accurate quotations for services at customer locations.
Requirements
Here’s what we require:
* Minimum HNC in Chemistry, with GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
* Strong understanding of chemical hazards, including COSHH symbols, functional groups, and transport regulations.
* Confident in interpreting safety data sheets.
* Experience working in time-sensitive hazardous waste environments.
* Analytical mindset with the ability to monitor and interpret data effectively.
* Skilled in conflict resolution and simplifying complex issues.
* Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—across all levels.
* Safety-conscious problem solver with a flexible, adaptable approach.
* Organised, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
