Job Description
We’re looking for a Principal Civil Engineer to join our growing Water Solutions team in Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, or Plymouth. In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering South West Water's and Wessex Water's £8 billion capital programmes. These projects span from small rural sites to multi-million-pound schemes and cover both water and wastewater (Infrastructure and Non-Infrastructure). The frameworks are long-term, extending through AMP8 and AMP9.
You’ll contribute to two major frameworks as part of this investment:
* South West Water: Framework for Engineering Consultancy Services - Lot 3 - Multi-Discipline Engineering Design.
* Wessex Water: Capital Delivery Partner Framework Agreement - Lot 2 - Design Consultants.
As part of a growing multi-disciplinary team with a long-standing presence in the region, you’ll be joining a group recognised for excellence, having won the IChemE Global Water Award 2023. You’ll have opportunities to develop your technical career not only through involvement in local projects but also by contributing to flagship initiatives across the UK&I and globally.
With flexible working from our South West & Wales locations, you’ll collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions. As part of AECOM, you’ll engage in impactful projects from inception through to delivery, enhancing the environment and supporting communities.
Here’s what you’ll do:
* Oversee: Manage the delivery of complex tasks and projects, ensuring budget and project management. Lead the technical delivery on various projects, reviewing work produced by others to ensure timely and accurate results.
* Provide Expertise: Offer technical knowledge and expertise to the design team on all design stages, including feasibility studies, outline design, detailed designs, and preparing technical specifications.
* Ensure Quality: Ensure design compliance with all applicable standards and regulations, providing technical expertise for interdisciplinary analytical studies.
* Collaborate: Work closely with clients to develop scope, price proposals, and communicate project progress. Collaborate with our team of Engineers, Hydraulic Modellers, Environmental and Technical Specialists to solve problems and deliver benefits to the communities we serve.
* Develop: Support the development of junior team members and undertake line management responsibilities.
If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you. Join our team, where we don't just construct infrastructure but also uplift communities and enhance lives.
Qualifications
Here’s what we’re looking for:
* Proven experience within the water sector at, or close to, the Principal level, ideally within the UK or with a good appreciation of UK norms and standards.
* Chartered or Incorporated with a relevant institution e.g. ICE, CIWEM, or working towards it.
* Experience in outline and/or detailed design, preferably in wastewater/water networks and treatment schemes, flood risk management, assessment, or drainage schemes.
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification/demonstrable equivalent experience.
We celebrate diversity, including neurodiversity, and believe it enriches our team. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and abilities.
