The role is a key part of the Imperial ICT team responsible for hosting our primary website www.imperial.ac.uk as well as many other college webservices. As part of the wider Hybrid Cloud team, you will oversee operational activities related to the College\\\'s web server farms. Working across a large stakeholder community, you will support a range of web technologies, and their underlying technology stacks.
What you would be doing
This role focuses on the deployment of applications and websites into our production environments, monitoring their performance, as well as developing our web farm environments, looking to automate wherever possible. You will work closely with product owners and web developers, helping them to optimise their sites, ensuring they are deployed in a secure and robust manner. Keeping up to date with modern trends and drawing upon industry wide experience, your advice and guidance will be key in helping ICT and the wider College develop their web presence.
You will contribute to the strategy, roadmaps and change delivery plans for the wider Hybrid Cloud team, covering people, process, and tooling, working with the Technology Office, Products and Service Operations, facilitating collaboration between stakeholders who share common objectives. You will produce clear and concise, high- and low-level design documentation, as well as implementation and operation guides.
What we are looking for
* Experience as a Web Infrastructure Engineer or equivalent role, preferably in an enterprise environment
* Experience in IIS, Apache, MySQL, PHP and WordPress
* Proficient on Windows Server and Linux
* Experience with Reverse Proxy and Load Balancer solutions.
