The British Creative Institute (BCI) is a specialist post-16 educational institution that supports learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) through creative media courses. We urgently seek a Visiting Lecturer, Counsellor, and Career Guide to join our team and provide essential guidance and support to our learners.
Job Role:
The successful applicant will:
Provide one-to-one and group counselling sessions to support SEND learners' emotional well-being and mental health.
Deliver tailored career guidance and advice to help students identify pathways in creative media and other relevant industries.
Collaborate with teaching staff to address students' social, emotional, and career development needs.
Develop individualised plans to empower students to achieve their academic and personal goals.
Assist learners in building resilience, confidence, and essential life skills.
(Optional but advantageous) Deliver lessons or workshops using Adobe creative applications such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or After Effects to support BCI's creative media curriculum.
Requirements:
Essential: Certification as a professional counsellor with experience in educational or SEND settings.
A thorough understanding of the challenges faced by SEND learners, particularly post-16.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with learners and staff.
Ability to adapt counselling and career guidance approaches to suit individual needs.
Flexibility and readiness to start immediately.
Desirable:
Experience using Adobe Creative software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, or After Effects.
Ability to teach creative media courses incorporating Adobe applications.
Additional Information:
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications.
