Job Summary
Advanced Pharmacist, Clinical Trials - Fixed term contract until 3rd April 2026. Velindre Cancer Services seeks a dedicated Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Clinical Trials team. Situated within a leading NHS Trust, our cancer centre delivers cutting-edge therapies while driving global advancements in oncology.
In this role, you will provide pharmaceutical expertise in cancer-related clinical trials, ensuring the safe and effective management of investigational medicinal products (IMPs). Collaborating with research teams, investigators, and healthcare professionals, you will uphold the highest safety and quality standards. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to pioneering targeted and advanced therapy trials that directly impact patient care.
Your responsibilities will include trial setup, reviewing pharmacy guides, and developing prescribing protocols. Additionally, you will support staff training, fostering best practices in cancer clinical trials.

Main duties of the job
* Provide expert pharmaceutical guidance: Deliver complex, evidence-based medication information to clinical staff, ensuring clear communication, documentation and sound clinical reasoning.
* Support systemic anti-cancer (SACT) services: Assist in developing and maintaining chemotherapy services in compliance with national standards and legislative requirements, addressing operational challenges and ensuring seamless service.
* Patient education and care: Educate patients on medication use, manage sensitive discussions as a non-medical prescriber, and coordinate with GPs and primary care professionals for integrated patient care.
* Collaborate with clinical teams: Build and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of clinical staff and outreach chemotherapy teams to support effective medicine management and service delivery.
* Pharmacy Clinical Trial: Offer specialist pharmacist support in the setup and delivery of commercial and non-commercial clinical trials. Collaborate with Principal Investigators and the Research, Development, and Innovation team to ensure the provision of novel therapies through clinical trials, advancing patient care and treatment options.

Person Specification
Experience Essential:
* Significant previous experience in clinical pharmacy services to Oncology/Haemato-oncology.
* An up-to-date knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, and the principles of medicines management.
* Experience of contributing to pharmaceutical care in a specialist area.
* Evidence of clinical audit, service improvement, and implementation of procedures and protocols.
* Experience in delivering pharmacy and multi-professional training.
Qualifications and Knowledge Essential:
* Masters Degree in Pharmacy (BPharm if qualified before 1999).
* Registered as a Pharmacist with GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council) with Independent Prescriber annotation.
* Post Graduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, or equivalent experience.
* Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) and credentialed to RPS Core Advanced level practice, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
* BOPA Passport accreditation to level 2c.
* Commitment to continuing professional development (CPD).
* Awareness of GMP and GCP.
* Member of relevant national specialist pharmacist group(s).
