Job overview
We are recruiting for a Clinical Support Worker - Children's Diabetes who shares our vision to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
You will work as an integral part of the team and demonstrate a willingness to develop the knowledge and skills required to assist in caring for children, young people, and their families with diabetes under the supervision of a paediatric diabetes multidisciplinary team (MDT).
You will assist the MDT to meet the health needs of children and young people with diabetes by supporting the team in the management of the patients’ diabetes. All relevant training will be provided to the successful candidate to enable them to support the MDT. The job requires working across both Lister and QEII sites.

Main duties of the job
1. Support the MDT in the outpatient clinic setting.
2. Organise and assist the MDT with the smooth running of the outpatient service.
3. Collect annual review blood and urine samples and send them to the lab.
4. Complete annual review foot-check and give foot care advice.
5. Complete injection and cannula site inspections.
6. Provide annual review paperwork and ensure completion.
7. Co-ordinate patients data downloads and attach to clinical records.

Person specification
Qualifications / Training
* GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent).
* Health related NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
* Willingness to undertake in-house training appropriate to the role.
Previous Experience
* Experience of working within a caring environment.
* Experience of working within a team.
* Demonstrate ability to follow agreed policies and procedures.
* Demonstrate experience of working within an MDT.
Skills
* Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with children and young people, and their families, of varying levels of understanding.
* Excellent organisation and communication skills and ability to work to deadlines.
* Demonstrates a flexible approach to work.
* Basic IT skills.
* Willingness to develop IT skills as appropriate to role.
Knowledge
* Understanding of the requirements of the role.
* Knowledge of information governance responsibilities.
* Knowledge of audit practice and value.
* Knowledge and understanding of responsibilities under the Trust Point of Care Testing policy.
