What we're looking for: The Resettlement Outreach Support Worker will play a key role in assisting Syrian and Afghan refugee families with their resettlement and integration in Southend. The role involves helping families navigate the practicalities of arrival, moving in, settling, and sustaining tenancies, while recognizing the psychological and emotional needs of the people you support. We're looking for someone who: Has a passion for making a real difference to people's lives and supporting their independence, safety, health, and happiness. Is non-judgmental, compassionate, kind, and empathetic. Possesses the resilience to handle a busy, challenging, and emotive role. Has experience supporting vulnerable people, either professionally or as a volunteer. If this sounds like you, then this role could be the perfect fit A bit about the role: As a Resettlement Outreach Support Worker, you'll: Provide information, guidance, and support to customers to enhance their independent living skills, such as budgeting, education, tenancy management, and accessing specialist services. Manage all aspects of the service, from initial referral and triaging to assessments and crisis support, while maintaining a caseload of customers with varying levels of support needs. Support customers in accessing additional services for mental health or other health-related issues. Work with customers to plan structured programmes that reduce the need for support over time. Encourage customer participation and consultation as integral aspects of the service. Assist customers in engaging with their communities, accessing cultural and educational opportunities, and maintaining positive relationships with family and professionals. Advocate for and promote self-advocacy among customers. This role requires an Enhanced DBS check and will involve a minimum of five days of work in and around Southend.
