Medical Education Fellow: Specialty Simulation Fellow
Job summary
The post is a one-year fixed term contract. It will be based within Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust and primarily working at Darent Valley Hospital. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a trainee with an interest in education to develop as a multiprofessional simulation-based educator. The aims of this new programme are to support the academic and nonclinical professional development of healthcare professionals from a range of backgrounds and to bring benefits to the healthcare system in which they are working through their project work on the programme.
Main duties of the job
Multi-Professional Fellows will provide clinical leadership to agreed development work/project(s) in one or more of these areas working with stakeholders in Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust and the local system. This role forms part of the NHS England SE-KSS - BSMS Multi-Professional Simulation Fellow Programme which aims to bring benefits to the healthcare system through developments in the following priority areas:
1. Developing Clinical Practice
2. Differential Attainment
3. Simulation-Based Education and Technology-Enhanced Learning
4. Digital Skills in Healthcare Practice
5. Leadership Development.
The successful applicant will also support the pre-existing Simulation-Based Education (SBE) programmes running across the Trust.

Job responsibilities
Multi-Professional Fellows will provide clinical leadership to agreed development work/project(s) in one or more of these areas working with stakeholders in Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust and the local system.
Education and development responsibilities:
To develop personal skills in education including:
* An understanding of adult educational theories;
* Knowledge of educational theory and undertaking educational research;
* Assessment and evaluation methodology;
* Knowledge of human factors and crisis resource management and their role in simulation-based learning and the wider clinical environment;
* Participate in the development and teaching of new and existing teaching courses, for postgraduate and undergraduate trainees, including simulation programmes;
* Undertake evaluation of courses and teaching delivered to ensure that trainees needs are continually met;
* Undertake research in healthcare education and aim to present research and novel ideas at local, national and international meetings;
* Participation in medical education department meetings.

Person Specification
Education and Training
Essential
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* Eligible for Full GMC Registration and License to Practice at the time of appointment
* ALS Provider
* Demonstrates excellent skills in spoken and written English to be able to teach medical topics efficiently
* Evidence of teaching
* Eligible for a CT2
Desirable
* MRCP/MRCPCH (or part of), MRCEM, MRCS, FRCA part I
* Intercalated BSc or equivalent Higher degrees including MSc, PhD or MD
* Publications in recognised medical or academic journals
* Poster presentations
* Attendance at medical courses and conferences
* ALS Instructor
* Evidence of a teaching qualification
* Previous experience in simulation
