About the role This newly created role as Legal Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel, depending on experience, will be joining MAB's small Legal team. You will be part of a growing PLC business, providing commercial legal advice and support with key senior stakeholders across our business functions. This role is initially a 6-month contract, with a view to become a permanent role for the successful candidate. Based in Derby, our stunning office is within 10 minutes walking distance of the Derby train station, just 1 hour 27 minutes from London St Pancras. Full travel costs and accommodation will be expensed. Key Responsibilities Provide commercial legal advice and support across MAB’s business functions and other related businesses. Collaborate with multiple business areas in the UK including Procurement, Finance, Marketing, Ecommerce, IT, Data protection, privacy and Compliance. Promote awareness of potential legal risks throughout the organisation, ensuring the business can grow and operate lawfully. Draft and negotiate a variety of contracts and documentation, including those for brand partnerships, software licenses and support, Software as a Service (SaaS), IT professional services, consultancy services, HR services, marketing agency agreements, logistics, corporate activity (inc. investments and acquisitions) and financial services regulation. Advise the HR, Finance, Procurement and Marketing teams more generally. Ensure that all contracts accurately reflect business risk appetite and that risks are properly managed. About You You are a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE). Training and/or experience within a Top 100 law firm and/or blue chip in-house is essential, with the ability to work independently in an in-house commercial legal team. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working on a diverse range of commercial contracts. Strong communication skills along with a willingness to share your expertise at Legal team meetings and business training sessions. You are resilient and adaptable as someone who enjoys every day being different. You have tenacity and take the initiative to lead legal matters, with full support from your manager when needed. Building strong relationships with various business stakeholders is key. A genuine passion for working with the UK's leading consumer finance brand is key.
