Eight Ofsted registered nurseries, offering essential early education to up to 360 children, helping them build the foundation for their futures. What Does the Job Entail? As a Duty Manager at YMCA Brunel, you will play an integral part in creating a welcoming and safe environment for our hostel guests, ensuring a high standard of service and compliance with health and safety regulations. You will also contribute to the broader success of the hostel by supporting our mission and providing an excellent experience for all. Key Responsibilities: Creating a Welcoming Atmosphere: Maintain a comfortable and inviting environment in the hostel, ensuring cleanliness and order in all communal spaces. Guest Reservations & Inquiries: Handle bookings, inquiries, and meeting room requests through our online system, in person, and via email. Collaborative Working: Work closely with the Hostel Manager and team to ensure the wellbeing and safety of all guests during their stay. Administrative Tasks: Manage the online booking system, handle general administration duties, and assist with banking when needed. Provide Local Information: Offer guests useful information about local attractions and events to enhance their experience. Ensuring Safety & Compliance: Monitor and uphold the safety and security of the hostel, conduct regular building checks, and manage any incidents in line with hostel policy. Housekeeping & Maintenance: Liaise with housekeeping and maintenance teams to ensure rooms are ready for guest arrivals, and report any required repairs. Room & Event Setup: Organize and prepare rooms for meetings and events, including catering as needed. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health and safety and hygiene regulations, and maintain up-to-date records. Lone Working: Comfortable with working alone, especially during night shifts, following all necessary protocols. What Skills & Experience Do We Need? We are looking for candidates who: Have a background in hospitality or customer service or can demonstrate transferable skills in a related field. Have the ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain high standards to meet the expectations outlined in the YMCA Brunel Group's strategic plan. Are flexible and adaptable, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and completing tasks to ensure a positive guest experience. Understand the importance of health and safety, and can adhere to the statutory regulations required in a hostel environment. Have experience or a passion for working in a charity or social enterprise context and a desire to support the YMCA’s charitable aims.
