Our client develops, constructs, operates, and invests in wind and solar PV projects globally and is at the forefront of the emerging sectors. Our client's project pipeline in the UK is in rapid growth, and in due course, they expect delivery of both onshore wind, energy storage, and PtX projects to form part of the UK portfolio.
Job Role
As an Electrical Engineer, you will deliver utility-scale solar (PV) projects in the UK. Main responsibilities include supporting the preparatory stages of the project, overseeing the front-end engineering design (FEED), supporting construction teams, troubleshooting, and overseeing the commissioning of our electrical infrastructure. You will work closely with Project Managers, Construction & Site Managers, Procurement, Grid, Design, and Asset management teams to support and safeguard our projects.
You will be hands-on in many technical, organizational, and commercial aspects with the opportunity to develop professionally and take on more responsibility over time.
Areas of Responsibilities
1. Participate in the preparation of electrical design processes, specifications, control concepts, protection, and single-line diagrams.
2. Detailed knowledge of PV plant architecture, system design, suppliers, and market standards.
3. Managing the cooperation with suppliers, technical advisors, and consultants to coordinate interfaces and final design.
4. Competence in interpreting electrical studies such as load flow estimations, short-circuit studies, LV&MV Cable sizing and optimization calculations, LPS, system earthing, etc.
5. Support and implement commissioning and operational instructions documentation e.g., shutdown procedures; and briefing notes for owners and technical advisors.
6. Supporting compliance processes and key certifications such as PAC, IAC and FAC, ION, EON and FON.
7. Support our EPC targets of reducing capex by optimizing designs.
Job Requirements
1. Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar, or equivalent professional experience and/or certifications.
2. Professional experience in the solar industry at utility scale.
3. Good understanding of P28, G59/G99, and similar ENA recommendations and design/implementation.
4. Strong knowledge of relevant IEC / ISO / BS Standards including BS7671.
5. Detailed knowledge of CDM, DNO requirements, Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, site safety rules, switching procedures.
6. You have a valid UK driving license.
