At the heart of Cambridgeshire, Isle Vets in Ely are looking for a Farm/Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join our team. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional care to a diverse range of animals, from beloved pet horses to large farm livestock. Almost all of our work is ambulatory so a driving license is essential.
We have an interesting varied mix, although we lean more to equine as a majority. Our farm work is anything from small holders with pigs and alpacas to large commercial farms with a large number of cattle usually for beef. If you ever fancied something a bit unusual we also see some zoo work where you can be doing anything from dentistry on a camel to removing the beak from a giant tortoise.
Our work mainly consists of routine checks and our surgeries are usually dealing with broken limbs, caesareans, rig ops and lasers. We do work with a good Equine referral clinic though for anything that needs more specialised treatment. One of our Clinical Directors has a good reputation for their skills in AI and embryos should you be interested in learning more about this. Our strong team has expertise in orthopaedics, reproduction, medicine and surgery, with scope for the successful candidate to excel in areas of interest where we can provide certificate support if interested.
We have a smart purpose-built practice with hospitalisation surgical facilities for equines and farm animals on the outskirts of the beautiful city of Ely. We have all the usual toys and are keen on investing in new equipment, technologies and ideas.
Currently we have 9 Veterinary Surgeons with 2 of those being certificate holders. We also have 2 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 5 Support Staff. We are looking for a fellow enthusiast to join our dynamic team. We support local charities and have recently been on a 10km charity run with many members of the practice taking part and also offer talks in the community and client evenings.
