Senior Test Engineer– In-store Payments Technology

What you’ll do
As the Test Engineer of in-store payments, your key responsibility will to work across all the initiatives on the In Store Payments roadmap and ensure that payment solutions and associated hardware are fully end to end tested and are fit for purpose before they land into store.
The role will involve physical hands on testing on our payment devices and will include an element of travel to our test laboratory based in Oldbury and also to stores, to pilot new payment releases and updates during trading and non-trading hours.
You will also be involved in incident resolution across our stores and use your skills to determine root cause and remediation to ensure continuation of our payment journey and reduce any potential impact to customers and our in store colleagues

Who you are
You must have a hands on approach to testing and be comfortable working with external vendors, senior stakeholders, product and engineering teams to ensure that we can deploy new payment solutions to production and assist with live incidents.
The role requires someone who is confident, self motivated and has a pro-active approach.
More about the role
1. Highly experienced testing background within the Retail domain with demonstrable experience of acquirer level accreditation testing
2. Strong background in functional and non-functional testing within Payments
3. Identify appropriate information on defects found during test execution and prioritise accordingly
4. Ability to analyse and interpret transaction related logs and messaging standards to aid with the resolution of live incidents and assist with root cause analysis
5. Write and maintain technical documentation that can be shared with stakeholders and external vendors
6. Interact with multiple stakeholders and external vendors to drive positive test outcomes
7. Knowledge of release management activities with a focus on deploying software to both test and deploying into stores for various bespoke systems.
8. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external teams to achieve desired outcome
9. ISTQB Advanced test management qualification or equivalent
Essential
10. 5+ years of overall experience in testing within Payments sector with at least 3+ years of automation experience.
11. Accreditation testing at acquirer level
12. Experience as a Test Analyst across functional test types, including regression testing, Integration Test, System Test, Exploratory Testing, and UAT.
13. Strong communication, stakeholder, and people management skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to various audiences.
14. Essential Jira/Confluence knowledge.
15. Flexible attitude towards work assignments and new learning.
16. Demonstrable ability to apply critical thinking to problems and tasks.
17. Exposure and solid understanding of testing microservice architecture.
18. Convert manual test cases into reliable, repeatable automated tests.
19. Drive improvement in the automated testing within the release process
