As a WT&B Engineer, you will support Landing Gear work packages, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure systems meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements while optimising performance, durability, and weight efficiency. You will engage with stakeholders, suppliers, and certification authorities, applying a consultative approach to build strong relationships and ensure compliance with certification requirements, processes, and methodologies, while delivering high-quality system engineering solutions.
Responsibilities:
* Delivering in line with commitments and reporting progress.
* Ensuring robust adherence to system processes and developing systems to meet product needs.
* Interfacing with stakeholders (Certification Specialists & Technical Signatories) to ensure compliance with certification requirements, process, and methodology.
* Equipment re-qualification accounting for new aircraft weight variants and new tyre/brake/wheel introductions.
* Supporting adherence to budget and schedule for each activity, managing and mitigating risks/opportunities, and communicating in a timely manner.
* Designing and optimising wheels, tyres, and brake systems for aircraft, considering factors such as weight, durability, and performance.
* Selecting appropriate materials for wheels, tyres, and brake components to meet safety and performance requirements.
* Collaborating with suppliers to ensure the timely availability of high-quality components and materials.
* Conducting performance analysis to ensure that wheels, tyres, and brakes meet operational needs and regulatory standards.
* Performing rigorous testing and validation of components to verify reliability, durability, and compliance with industry standards.
* Collaborating with other engineering teams to integrate wheels, tyres, and brake systems seamlessly into the overall aircraft design.
* Developing systems and procedures for detecting and diagnosing faults in wheels, tyres, and brake components to enhance safety and reliability.
* Maintaining detailed documentation of design specifications, testing procedures, and compliance records.
* Working closely with avionics, structural engineering, and other teams to ensure effective integration and operation of wheels, tyres, and brake systems.
* Utilising simulation and modelling tools to analyse and optimise the performance of wheels, tyres, and brakes under various conditions.
Required Experience:
* Basic awareness of Aircraft System Qualification & Certification.
* Strong background in Systems Engineering, equipment design, and stakeholder management.
* Experience in writing technical specifications at both equipment and systems level.
* Planning and reporting experience.
* Process optimisation and organisational skills.
* Project management experience (desired but not essential).
* Experience in creating and analysing test cases from lab and flight tests.
* Knowledge related to the development of mechanical systems (including hydro-mechanical components & equipment) and applying systems engineering methodology (including requirements management) in the aerospace sector.
* Aerospace (Landing Gear Systems) environment background.
* Systems engineering experience, particularly involving Requirements Management (DOORS), Integration, Verification & Validation.
* Proficiency in hydraulic systems related to aircraft braking mechanisms.
* Knowledge of tyre materials, construction, and technology, understanding their impact on overall aircraft performance.
* Experience using one or more of the following software tools would be advantageous: CATIA V5, MSC ADAMS, MATLAB, Simulink, or IBM DOORS.
Required Skills:
