FINANCE - ASSISTANT MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT

About the Role
As an Assistant Accountant, you will support the Management Accounting Team in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial analysis. In addition, you will assist on continuous improvement projects throughout the month and support the wider Finance team where necessary.

Your Day to Day
Management Accounts Preparation:
* Day to day bookkeeping and general ledger posting/maintaining. Collating information for internal stakeholders, including both finance and operational colleagues.
* Assist in cashflow reporting and forecasting.
* Posting of accruals and prepayments and maintaining schedules.
* Maintaining the fixed asset register.
* Balance sheet reconciliations.
* Improving controls to increase financial performance reliability.
* Adhoc involvement in project work such as implementation of new systems.
* Assistance with entity and group audit requests from the Financial Accountant.
Team Management & Wider Relationships:
* Build relationships with divisional operational teams, alongside the Management Accounting Manager providing support and guidance.
* Become an integral part of the Finance team, ensuring consistent service delivery and supporting and encouraging team members.
Processes and Controls:
* Assist in ensuring group accounting policies are followed, including the implementation of new accounting standards and changes in accounting policy.
* Work with the rest of the Finance team to ensure that internal policies and processes are complete, documented, and adhered to.
General Administrative Tasks and Ad Hoc Support:
* Strong analytical and numerical skills.
* AAT level 3 or above.
* Experience in an accounting role.
* Experience of using accounting software.
* Experience of assisting with monthly management accounts, including double entry and reconciliations.
* AAT level 4 or starting a professional qualification ACCA/CIMA.
* Experience of assisting with year-end accounts preparation.
* Experience with Access / Xero/ERP system.
