Our expanding Farm & Environmental Advisory department is looking for an experienced Farm & Environmental specialist who has an excellent track record in giving environmental management advice to land owners. Our department sits alongside Mitchells land agency, its property sales, auction sale room and of course, its successful livestock mart. We also enjoy and benefit from being located on the fringe of the Lake District National Park. You would ideally have experience in habitat assessment, ecological surveying & negotiating management packages with government departments, charities, landowners and farmers. The ability and passion to work up environmental schemes such as the Sustainable Farming Incentive and the Higher Tier Countryside Stewardship scheme is essential. The right person would have some knowledge of various agricultural sectors in Cumbria and some exposure to farm yard Infrastructure Improvements, natural flood management, biodiversity net gain and carbon capture. We would hope that the successful applicant would enjoy providing advice in other areas of agriculture, both in the office or in a farm setting. However training would be provided as necessary. You must be comfortable with lone working in the outdoors and possess a valid driving licence. Attention to detail is a must, accuracy in report writing as well as excellent time keeping skills. Data recording, assessment and IT skills will be needed as well as experience in GIS mapping, desktop publishing & power point presentations. The ability to produce land registry maps and promotional material is desirable as well as the confidence to deliver presentations to a variety of groups when required. You must be a team player but have the drive to administer work to your own client base. You will be expected to explore and nurture new areas of business as well as generate fees for the work completed.
