This is a large department with 39 Consultant Neurologists linked to Imperial (based at Charing Cross, St. Mary’s or Hammersmith Hospitals), many with clinical duties at allied District General Hospitals and/or research commitments within academic departments at Imperial College.
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates to join the Neurology Service who have some prior experience in within the specialty. We offer a friendly, supportive department, ensuring training and personal development needs are met.
As a regional neuroscience centre, we bring together expertise across the range of neurological conditions, and as the Trust is an academic health science centre, we try to bring cutting edge research to the bedside for the benefit of patients. Our neuro-otology is a centre of national excellence for patients with dizzy, balance and eye movement disorders and receives referrals from around the UK. We have an internationally recognised multiple sclerosis (MS) service, with the largest UK cohort of patients on disease modifying therapies. Our dementia service has unrivalled expertise in using advanced imaging for the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.

Clinical time will be spent working on the shop floor, working across the Neurology Ward and our dedicated Neurosciences Treatment Unit (NTU). The candidate will have access to senior supervision at either Middle Grade or Consultant level. There will be opportunities to attend weekly departmental teaching as well as access to relevant Trust wide training days.
The post holder will work as part of an EWTD compliant full shift rota to ensure cover is provided. The out of hours work will be carried out under the Consultant’s / Specialty Registrar’s supervision for the management of all appropriate patients.
This a full-time position and will be on a fixed term contract for six month, with a view to extend to twelve months, based at Charing Cross Hospital, Fulham Palace Road.

· The post involves care of neurology inpatients, acute neurology liaison service and weekly academic and neuro-radiology meetings. The post holder will be expected to participate in the on-call rota, which includes neurology and resident stroke thrombolysis/thrombectomy duties.
· The Neurology Department provides comprehensive adult neurological care for both emergency and elective work. This includes an inpatient Neurology ward (Charing Cross), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), a planned Neurological Treatment Unit (NTU), an Acute Neurology service, a wide range of sub-speciality outpatient clinics and a number of Multi-disciplinary team meetings.
· The Neurology department is complemented by the Hyperacute Stroke Unit, Neurosurgery Unit, Neuroradiology Department (with access to CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine and interventional neuroradiology), and Neurophysiology Department.
· There are plenty of opportunities to be involved in all aspects of neurology patients’ care with a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient management
· There are weekly neurology grand rounds, and teaching from senior staff. During the post there will be opportunities to attend general neurology and sub-specialty outpatient clinics.
