Responsibilities:
As a Principal Controls Engineer, you will play a crucial role in creating control software across leading PLC platforms such as Rockwell and Beckhoff. You will lead project teams consisting of Senior Software and Software Engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software design based on customer and regulatory requirements. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Creating and modifying PLC software, vision applications, robot applications, motion applications, and HMI/visualisation systems
2. Managing software project teams' progress against defined key milestones
3. Developing and maintaining software templates and libraries
4. Providing technical expertise and acting as the point of contact for project-related topics
5. Overseeing software design code reviews
6. Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and providing data for project performance evaluation
7. Assisting with commissioning on customer sites, both in the UK and overseas
8. Offering technical support across departments, including simulations, estimating, and hardware/software selection
9. Providing aftersales support for existing machinery and installations
Essential Qualifications:
* Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
* Knowledge and experience in electrical or mechatronic engineering
Desirable Qualifications:
* Proficiency in the use of Rockwell programming platforms
* Integration of robotics into automation solutions
