Job Description
We are an established multiple location electrical test instrument calibration, service, and repair business. As a UKAS ISO 17025 accredited organisation, we pride ourselves on delivering accurate and reliable calibration services to our diverse client base. We currently have a vacancy for a highly motivated individual in our expanding Calibration Department based in the Stoke-On-Trent area. You will be part of a multi skilled team of calibration engineers and coordination personnel.
As a Metrology and Calibration Technician, you should have a good knowledge of accredited calibration processes with some understanding of electronics and Windows based software systems. You should be able to confirm this with relevant qualifications or experience gained during your career development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the calibration, adjustment, and service of a range of electrical, gas and pressure test instruments in accordance with ISO 17025 standards. This is a hands-on role requiring a methodical approach, strong technical knowledge, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
To be suitable for this role, the following experience and qualifications characteristics are preferred:
1. Hold a technical qualification (such as a time served engineering apprenticeship, ONC, HND, HNC, NVQ/BTEC Level 3 and above or demonstrable relevant experience) or other electrical and electronic trade experience.
2. Proven experience in electrical and/or pressure calibration within a traceable or UKAS ISO 17025 accredited laboratory preferred.
3. Understanding of calibration principles, measurement uncertainty, and quality standards preferred.
4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and calibration procedures.
6. Strong IT skills for documentation and data analysis.
7. Knowledge of Windows-based applications and automated laboratory software preferred.
8. Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
9. Experience of working within a customer focused environment.
Responsibilities
1. Maintain accurate calibration records and documentation in line with accreditation requirements.
2. Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
3. Assist in maintaining and improving laboratory quality systems.
4. Provide technical support and advice to customers and colleagues.
5. Participate in internal and external audits as required.
6. Keep up to date with industry standards and advancements in calibration techniques.
7. Develop, review, and maintain measurement uncertainty budgets in accordance with ISO 17025 requirements.
8. Analyse and interpret calibration data to calculate and report measurement uncertainties.
9. Conduct regular calibration of equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications.
10. Interpret SOP's, work instructions, manufacturers documentation and technical specifications.
11. Collaborate with team members to enhance operational efficiency and maintain laboratory standards.
12. Document calibration processes and results for quality assurance.
