Professor James Rowe is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Post-doctoral Research Associate to join the REAl world Dementia OUTcomes (READ-OUT) study that meets the Blood based Biomarkers Challenge from NIHR and Alzheimer's Research UK. READ-OUT has received £4.5m funding and aims to collect and analyze blood samples from >3000 people from specialist centers representing diverse populations across the UK.
As a Post-Doctoral Research Associate, you will lead the statistical analysis and data management for multivariate biomarkers identified using novel biochemical assays including SIMOA, NULISA, Mass Spectrometry, multiomics, and other data generating platforms. The project involves leading academic and industry partners including biochemical laboratory facilities such as the Biomarker Factory at the Dementia Research Institute.
The postholder will develop research objectives for analysis of univariate and multivariate biomarker candidates to assess their capacity for diagnosis and prognosis and overall reliability and validity. You will undertake longitudinal and prediction models of biomarker data in the context of known demographics, co-morbidities, and disease variance. You will drive the project, develop and deliver its research objectives, and be well equipped to present developments and key findings to relevant stakeholders. You will work within a balanced team of professionals consisting of post-doctoral scientists, clinical fellows, research governance managers, and students as well as external collaborators.
For this post, you will have an undergraduate degree in Bioinformatics or Statistics with a PhD in a related discipline. You will have in-depth knowledge of biostatistics and related research methods and applications. Experience with machine learning algorithms and strong programming skills using platforms such as MATLAB, R, Bash, and Python will be essential.
