Main Purpose of the Role:
Walsall Council is seeking a passionate and experienced Principal Occupational Therapist to provide strong professional leadership across all operational areas of our Adult Social Care service. You will be a key member of the Adult Social Care Senior Management Team, representing the workforce at a strategic level and ensuring service design is influenced by frontline Occupational Therapy practice.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead on quality assurance initiatives to enhance outcomes for adults with care and support needs.
2. Develop and oversee learning and development opportunities for Occupational Therapists and Assistants.
3. Collaborate with partner agencies to promote an integrated approach to service development, focusing on independence for service users.
4. Stay updated on the latest research and evidence-based practices in Occupational Therapy and represent the service at local and national forums.
Role Specific Duties:
5. Establish a cohesive Occupational Therapy workforce through effective supervision, recruitment, and retention strategies.
6. Champion evidence-based practices and drive service delivery improvements.
7. Manage financial, human, and physical resources effectively within the Council's framework.
8. Ensure compliance with statutory duties and contribute to quality assurance activities, including audits.
Requirements:
9. Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification.
10. Registration with the appropriate professional regulator.
11. Strong leadership and communication skills.
12. A commitment to ongoing professional development and compliance with council policies.
13. Ability to foster close working relationships with various stakeholders in the community.
