A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a meticulously organised, highly dedicated and efficient manager to work within the Legal Services Department at Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
We are seeking to recruit a Legal Services Manager who will have operational responsibility for the three main portfolios within the Legal Services Department, and the numerous separate workstreams therein; all of which are linked to statutory and regulatory timescales and provisions.
This is a fast paced, varied and challenging role and as such, we are looking for someone who is ready to take new responsibilities, utilise their skills and be a key member of the senior leadership team within the Legal Services Department.
The post holder will hold operational management of the caseload within the Legal Services Department and as such, will be responsible for a wide range of duties.
There are three portfolios within the department, each containing a number of separate workstreams which respective statutory provisions and deadlines:
• Coroners and Courts portfolio
• Disclosure portfolio
• Claims portfolio
This role involves being a subject matter expert in relation to the three portfolios and being the second level within the escalation process for complex and contentious cases.
The post holder must be experienced in managing large and varied caseloads and be flexible in their approach, often changing from one portfolio to another.
As Legal Services Manager, this is a very visible role and will act as a linchpin within the department, managing the caseload and also working closely with the Deputy Head and Head of Legal Services.
This role line manages three Legal Services Coordinators and reports into the Deputy Head of Legal Services. The post holder will be a key member of the newly established senior leadership team within the Legal Services Department.
This is a full time post, working in a hybrid manner which is a mix of home working and from the dedicated hybrid working areas at Ambulance Headquarters in Wakefield. Some travel will be required across the Yorkshire and the Humber region as required within the role so the ability to move around the region is key.

The Legal Services Manager will be responsible for managing the workstreams and portfolios within the Legal Services Department as follows:
• Coroners and Courts portfolio: coroners and court warning workstreams
• Disclosure portfolio: subject access requests, fines administration, police requests and Freedom of Information Act requests workstreams
• Claims portfolio: employers’ liability, public liability, property/ex-gratia claims and some motor PI claims along with the third party earning workstreams
The role will lead on the development and implementation of procedures relating to the dedicated workstreams and portfolios within the Legal Services Department.
