FIM (Fulcrum Infrastructure Management) is a management services company, managing social infrastructure assets on behalf of our parent company; global infrastructure investment company, Meridiam.
This role is working on the University of Hertfordshire student accommodation project, a 50-year PPP project which consists of the design, build, financing, and operation of 3,011 student residence rooms based on the College Lane Campus in Hatfield.
As the centrepiece of the University’s Estates 2020 Vision, the redevelopment of College Lane has been the platform from which the University has launched its long-term modernisation plan. Boasting some of the best and most sustainable student accommodation in the UK, all 21 new buildings have been rated ‘Outstanding’ by BREEAM.
FIM provides a range of operational management and financial management services to the project.
The Role
To oversee the outstanding operational management of the College Lane residences through effective management with contractual partners, ensure an excellent student experience for those living in halls through effective liaison with the key stakeholders and that the accommodation remains an attractive place for students to live for the short, medium and long term.
Working with key stakeholders including the FM provider and University estates team, you will be passionate about maintaining and improving the residences for the benefit of existing students, and support the marketing of rooms to returning and future students.
With an assertive but highly collaborative approach, you will be adept at understanding project contracts, ideally within a PFI / PPP environments, in order to identify opportunities to improve the project and increase occupancy rates, in a manner supported by the contractual obligation.
About you
Working to a strong values framework and positively influencing change will be important to you, including careful management of stakeholder relationships. You will be very experienced in managing projects with dynamic and varied workflows.
You will be very familiar with PFI / PPP contractual arrangements and able to demonstrate an understanding of the environment and dynamic this creates, particularly when managing relationships with key stakeholders and organisations.
A creative edge and a passion for work will be beneficial, as you form part of a small team of four operating on the project, rolling your sleeves up and getting stuck in will be essential at times and a knowledge of Higher Education would be an advantage.
You will be analytical, with exceptional problem solving skills that you can apply in a complex matrixed organisation. You will value data driven information with an ability to interpret and report accordingly, including presenting to senior stakeholders.
An understanding of project companies, SPV's and financial management in this environment is desirable.
