The post holder will be the key person identified for providing cancer information and support, to enable people to navigate the health and social care system and make choices that are best for their cancer and their life. The aim of the role is to make sure that people living with cancer can access the right support, at the right time.
Main duties of the job
* Participate in patient and public involvement activities to promote the service including awareness and promotional events outside of the centre.
* Present / attend cancer conferences locally and regionally as required.
* Organise the day-to-day running of the service, organising meetings, booking rooms, and responding to email enquiries.
* Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines for self and others.
* Work with other Co-ordinators across the region to adopt best practice.
* Use databases and computer packages to initiate and maintain records and generate statistics for analytical purposes.
* Coordinate the handover with other teams to facilitate safe and effective transition of care between services in order to provide seamless support for people.
* Document and monitor all aspects of care coordination and service delivery, supporting data collection for audit.
* The post holder will demonstrate excellent organisational skills.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
* NVQ level 3/4 qualification in Health or Social Care or equivalent experience
* 5 GCSE qualifications with C or above including Maths and English
* Counselling qualification
* Basic Cancer Course
* Additional training to Foundation degree/diploma level or equivalent through short courses
* Experience coordinating a patient workload
Knowledge and Skills
* Minimum 3 years' experience of working in a health or social care setting
* Minimum 2 years' experience of working with cancer patients
* Previous experience as a Senior Support worker
* Understanding of Macmillan Cancer Support and its role across the UK
* Awareness of Improving Outcomes; A Strategy for Cancer and other national cancer policies
* Knowledge of relevant cancer treatments, interventions, and terminology
* Experience of working without supervision using own initiative
