An exciting opportunity to apply for the role of a Transfusion Practitioner Band 7 has arisen, full time, 37.5 hours per week, however we would consider part time. This post is based at Colchester Hospital however cross site working to Ipswich Hospital will be required.
We are seeking a highly motivated experienced individual to join the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT), Blood Transfusion Team, alongside experienced Transfusion Practitioners, Consultant Haematologists and Laboratory Managers. We are looking to employ a registered healthcare professional (NMC or HCPC or other appropriate professional body).
Pathology at ESNEFT manages 60,000 group and save requests and over 27,000 component transfusions.
This team works with colleagues Trust wide to maintain patient safety and improve the service to patients receiving blood components and products. The successful candidate will work to change and develop the services guided by national guidelines and recommendations from the MHRA and other relevant bodies.
Main duties of the job
This will include working autonomously as well as part of a team in order to manage incidents, complete national and local audits related to transfusion practice and developing patient blood management strategies including safe transfusion practices through education and training. This role also has management responsibility for part of our team.

Experience
Essential
* Up to date experience of Blood Transfusion practices appropriate to the type of Trust working for.
* Teaching / training / assessment of staff.
* Appraisal/staff development experience.
* Implementing guidelines.
* Audit and research experience.
* Investigation and management of clinical incidents.
* Multi-professional working.
* Experience in dealing with senior medical staff.
* Must be able to demonstrate that you have knowledge of your professional code of conduct and guidance issued by your professional body and that you adhere to these.
Desirable
* Transfusion Practitioner experience
* Familiarity with Pathology computer systems.
* Experience in Critical Care / Theatre / Haematology/ Acute Oncology.
* Data analysis and reporting experience.
* Project management
* Ability to develop systems protocols, pathways and procedures.

* Knowledge of clinical risk management.
