Teaching Assistants required!
We are seeking several experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join this vibrant secondary school in Portsmouth. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting students to thrive in their education and reach their full potential. We are looking for candidates with prior experience working in educational support, especially those with a background in assisting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be a key part of our students' daily support system. Working closely with classroom teachers, Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo), and the wider school team, you will provide essential support to ensure students can engage with their learning and overcome barriers they may face. You’ll have a meaningful impact, helping students grow academically and personally within a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* In-Class Support: Assist students during lessons, helping them stay engaged, understand tasks, and manage their time effectively. Your support will help ensure a smooth learning experience for all students.
* One-to-One and Small Group Assistance: Provide focused support to individual students or small groups outside the classroom setting, helping reinforce learning, develop study skills, and build self-confidence.
* Adapting Learning Materials: Collaborate with teachers to modify resources and materials, ensuring they are accessible for students with different learning abilities and needs.
* Behavioural and Emotional Guidance: Support students with SEMH needs by using positive reinforcement and structured approaches to encourage constructive behaviours and emotional growth.
* Building Positive Relationships: Foster strong, trusting relationships with students, creating a safe space that encourages open communication, confidence, and positive engagement.
* Collaborate with Staff: Work closely with teachers, the SENDCo, and other TAs to ensure each student receives consistent, effective support and a cohesive learning experience.
* Monitoring and Reporting Progress: Observe and document students’ progress, engagement, and any behavioural or learning concerns. Communicate regularly with teachers and the SENDCo to ensure all team members are aligned on student needs.
* Promote Independence: Empower students by encouraging independent learning skills and self-management, helping them develop confidence and a sense of responsibility for their own learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
