Job Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our partner schools in Pontefract. The successful candidate will work closely with students with a range of special educational needs, providing tailored support to help them achieve their full potential in an inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a genuine enthusiasm for working with children and the ability to engage and inspire students across a range of abilities and backgrounds. This ongoing requirement is open to full time and part time candidates looking for an immediate start role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the educational and social development of students with SEND, under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCO.
* Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and personalized support strategies.
* Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping with classwork, behavior management, and social integration.
* Modify learning materials and activities to suit the diverse needs and abilities of students.
* Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and support interventions.
* Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting is essential.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are highly desirable.
* Strong communication, empathy, and organizational skills. The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
* Understanding of SEND Code of Practice and strategies for supporting students with a range of needs.
* Ability to adapt to changing situations and support needs.
