They operate a cutting-edge Datacentre, and we are seeking a skilled and electrically biased individual to join our team as an Electrically Biased Datacentre Shift Facilities Engineer.
Job Overview: As an Electrically Biased Datacentre Shift Facilities Engineer, you will be a key player in ensuring the electrical integrity and reliability of the clients' datacenter facilities. This role involves monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems critical to the operation of their clients' datacenter, contributing to a seamless and efficient operational environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Systems Management:
* Oversee and maintain electrical systems, including power distribution units, generators, UPS systems, and associated components.
* Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
* Identify and rectify electrical faults and anomalies promptly.
2. Monitoring and Reporting:
* Monitor electrical systems through the use of building management systems and other relevant tools.
* Generate reports on electrical system performance and propose improvements based on data analysis.
* Respond to alarms and alerts related to electrical systems and take corrective actions as needed.
3. Collaboration:
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical facilities engineers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical and mechanical systems.
* Assist in the planning and execution of electrical-related projects and upgrades.
4. Emergency Response:
* Act as a first responder during electrical emergencies, implementing emergency procedures to safeguard datacenter operations.
* Coordinate with external vendors for specialized electrical repairs.
5. Documentation:
* Maintain accurate records of electrical equipment, maintenance activities, and incidents.
* Contribute to the development and updating of electrical procedures and documentation.
Qualifications:
1. Proven experience as a Facilities Engineer with a strong focus on electrical systems in a datacenter environment.
2. In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, UPS systems, and backup generators.
3. Familiarity with electrical codes, standards, and regulations relevant to datacenter operations.
4. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with an electrically biased perspective.
5. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
6. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
7. Relevant certifications (e.g., Electrical Engineering degree, Apprenticeship qualifications or equivalent).
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
