415706 Oncology Translational Research Lead
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Associate Director to join our team of oncology translational scientists within the Oncology R&D department. The successful candidate will support the Director in applying translational experimental and computational research to enable cancer patient risk stratification, identify biomarkers, and predict future therapeutic susceptibilities.

In this role you will:
* Leverage expertise in cancer biology and the oncology clinical landscape to support the Oncology Translational Research (OTRO) team in cross-functional matrix environments.
* Assist in creating and implementing translational research plans to address key asset team questions around mechanism, biomarkers (pharmacodynamic, response, and/or resistance), and combination/indication expansion opportunities.
* Act as a translational advisor to preclinical project teams, supporting early biomarker discovery/evaluation, indication selection, competitive differentiation, and clinical transition plans.
* Engage with external HCPs/Investigators globally through translational alliances to design and contribute to efforts for deep profiling of existing clinical cohorts/biobank material, generating insights to guide future clinical studies.
* Collaborate with and support the Director in leading and mentoring a team of highly skilled translational leads, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment that promotes scientific excellence and professional growth.
* Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal Oncology Translational Research teams and cross-functional partners across GSK and external partners, ensuring seamless integration of translational research efforts.
* Communicate translational research progress and findings to key stakeholders, including senior leadership and external collaborators, through written reports and presentations.
* Manage multiple projects and workstreams, including assessment of workload and resourcing requirements to deliver the team’s objectives.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the clinical and translational research landscape in the areas represented as a translational leader.

* PhD or equivalent in a relevant biological science or medicine field.
* Considerable experience in translational research, with experience in cancer research and oncology drug development.
* Experience of contributing to translational research in a matrix team environment, with exposure to industry drug discovery and clinical development teams.
* Demonstrated cross-functional knowledge of cancer biomarker discovery with experience in non-clinical translational experimental approaches and reverse translation activities.
* Proven leadership potential with experience in managing and developing scientific teams.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

* Demonstrated scientific excellence and understanding of cancer biology, as evidenced by publications, research reports, and external presentations.
* Experience in Antibody Drug Conjugate and/or T-cell Engager research and development.
* Experience in molecular and genomic assay technologies and with clinical assay development (e.g. flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, immunoassays).
* Experience in managing research collaborations.
* Strong communication skills to convey complex ideas and concepts to a range of stakeholders.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex scientific questions.
* Strong collaboration and partnership skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
* Excellent project management skills with a focus on delivering results.
* Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work well with ambiguity and in intense situations.
